Katie and Kevin’s Engagement Session at Monmouth University

Katie and Kevin’s engagement session at Monmouth University was perfect! It was a crisp 70 degrees with hardly any wind and no humidity, we couldn’t have asked for a better evening! Starting the session at 7pm, the sun was low enough to give us the perfect lighting for every shot.

We began their engagement session at Monmouth University, Katie and Kevin’s alma mater and where they began dating! I love Monmouth’s campus so when Katie and Kevin mentioned that they wanted to have their engagement session here I was thrilled! The campus is beautiful with historic structures, grandeur mable arches, and manicured gardens.

One of my favorite spots on the campus was The Erlanger Gardens Arches. The arches and stairs provided a stunning architectural element that framed Katie and Kevin beautifully. From there, we wandered over to the great hall stairs. The patio setup was a cute spot for some candid shots of Katie and Kevin relaxing and chatting.

We then moved inside to The Great Hall, famously known as the setting for the 1982 film version of Annie. Katie and Kevin ran up the iconic marble stairs and we took some cool shots infront of the golden gate doors upstairs. Then we moved downstairs and into the foyer where we took a bunch of photos in front of the cast iron doors. I loved how this indoor location added a more intimate dynamic to for their photos.

After wrapping up at Monmouth University, we headed to the beach to catch the last bit of sunset. The beach was calm, with gentle waves and a purple haze from the setting sun. Katie and Kevin strolled along the shore, well I made them run a couple of times too. Sorry!

After the beach we headed up the street to their first date spot, Scalas’s Pizzaria! They shared a slice and it was the perfect way to end their engagement session.

Katie and Kevin’s engagement session was so fun and meaningful. Starting the evening at their college and where they first met, Monmouth University, then heading to the beach where they spend their summer, and ending it at their first date spot! I had fun running around Long Branch with them and can’t wait to do it again next month at their wedding!
